Around the same time officers were on Blanche Street, Akron police received a burglary call from a resident on the 1300 block of Girard Street.

The resident told police two men, armed with a handgun, broke into his house by removing an air conditioning unit and climbing through the window.

The resident stabbed one of the men in the chest. Both suspects fled and drove off towards Blanche Street where they called for EMS, police said.

The man who was stabbed was transported to Akron General Medical Center but died about an hour later.

Police identified the man who died as Decarlos Abdul Powe, Jr. of Akron.

Police identified the second suspect as 24-year-old Kesean K. Brown.  He was charged with aggravated burglary and taken to Summit County Jail.
