Memorial Day in Northeast Ohio remembers the men and women who've lost their lives in the line of duty.
Dozens of members of the American Legion Post 421 joined at Sunset Memorial Park.
Many told News 5 that Memorial Day holds a special place in their hearts.
"I remember my comrades, my friends, if it weren't for some of those guys? I might not be here," said Ron Mihalenko, a Vietnam War veteran.
"There's a pride learned, it will be with them till they die," Veteran and Color Guard member, Bill Russell told News 5.
"I'm just thankful were here today," Veteran Don Lang said.
Other veterans, and their families, joined them in paying tribute to their fellow soldiers, friends, siblings and parents.
Veteran, Rick DeChant, visited his father, also a veteran, "Four generations, and proud of it. If you ask any one of us. My dad, my grandfather, we'd do it again," he said.
DeChant shared a message he says everyone should hear this Memorial Day.
"I would ask families who don't have anyone in the service that they take that time today, even if it's five or 10 minutes from that picnic, to step back and a simple silent thank you, for the men and women keeping watch, manning gates, and keeping an eye on the border walls," he said.
