A police pursuit of four armed bank robbery suspects ended in a crash on Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened around noon at East 156th Street and Damon Avenue in Cleveland.
The chase started when officers spotted a stolen white Chrysler 200 on the city's east side. According to the FBI, the car was stolen in a carjacking in Cleveland Heights on Monday.
Authorities say the vehicle was then used during two armed bank robberies on the west side—one at North Coast Credit Union on Lorain Road in Fairview Park and at the second at Best Reward Credit Union on Smith Road.
During the pursuit, the suspects in the white vehicle tried to go around the victim's minivan before slamming into a black car.
Two of the suspects and both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Less than a week ago, a chase ended with a police officer and K-9 injured, one armed robbery suspect dead and three others hospitalized.
FBI Special Agent Vicki Anderson said it was a quiet summer for bank robberies but she has seen the number of them rise.
Anderson said all four suspects were arrested with charges pending. Authorities believe the suspects could possibly be linked to other bank robberies in the area.
