It's unclear at this time how many boats were affected.
No injuries have been reported and the area has been blocked off. No one was on the boats at the time of the fire.
Sandusky Fire Department says one boat caught fire, which caused the boat next to it to catch fire. The Coast Guard is leading the investigation and says the gas tank on the boat that started the fire exploded. The cause is still under investigation.
Some surrounding boats suffered damage from being near the heat and smoke, but the fire was contained to the two main boats. One of the boats sank as a result of the fire.
