The body found in Chippewa Lake has been identified as missing Lafayette Township trustee Bryon Macron.
Medina County Sheriff Tom Miller confirmed the body is that of the trustee who was last seen in December at a social function with co-workers.
Blood was later found in his office, where investigators said it appeared there had been an altercation. Blood was also found in his car, which was discovered abandoned by Chippewa Lake.
A kayaker out on the Medina County lake discovered Macron's body Tuesday in the water. Search crews later recovered the body.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office is handling the autopsy. A cause of the death of the married, father of three has not been revealed.
A news conference is scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Medina County Sheriff's Department.
