Authorities shut down two southbound lanes of State Route 8 on Monday morning after a naked man in the roadway was struck by a passing vehicle.

The incident happened on State Route 8 near Seasons Road.

According to troopers, the man had been driving a silver 2013 Kia Optima the wrong way down Interstate 77. When police tried to stop him he drove off.

Stow officers used stop sticks to slow down the man's car. When his car finally stopped, he jumped out and fled into the nearby woods. Authorities said that when the man tried to cross the highway he ran into the side of a 2008 Honda Odyssey.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His condition is unknown.

It's not known why the man was naked. Police said drug use appears to be a factor in the incident.
