CLEVELAND — Dozens of fathers and father figures stepped through the entrance of Stepstone Academy in Cleveland. The school teaches kindergartners through third grade students in the Central Neighborhood.
Stepstone is in its seventh year. In that time, the school has gone from a failing grade to an A.
The school participated in Father's Walk on Thursday.
Dads at the school said they want to step up and be there for their children.
“You want him to be better than what you were, than what you did,” said parent, Paul Hicks.
“My grandkids, their father died in a motorcycle accident, so I try to step up,” said Deonte Cleveland.
Schools across the country participated in the national event, including Lakewood, where football players stepped up for parents who couldn't participate.
