CLEVELAND — Children are learning science in a fun new way.
Dozens of Northeast Ohio youth have enrolled in STEM, also known as a science, technology, engineering and mathematics program.
The 8-week course, which runs Mondays through Wednesdays at Malachi House, is organized by Whitney Long Jones.
“They can be applied to every single aspect of our life,” said Long Jones. “Having a good time while they’re learning without knowing they’re learning. Generally, the kids live in Ohio city, and they go to public schools in that area. Getting people of color involved in environmentalism would be a step in the right direction being that historically we’ve been excluded.”
Kids are also learning everyday life skills.
“You get to do stuff after school and we get to cook,” said 9-year-old, Honor Hayes.
