CLEVELAND — Two newly-announced musical acts will be adding some serious rock and roll to All-Star Week events on Sunday, July 7 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Cleveland’s own Welshly Arms will be performing right before the first pitch of the Celebrity Softball Game at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 7, and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be performing a special set Sunday night after the SiruisXM All-Star Futures Game, MLB officials announced Tuesday.
The All-Star Sunday festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a battle of Cleveland versus The World in this year’s MLB All-Star Celebrity Softball Game, with a full roster of celebrities from movies, television, music and sports to be announced later. Gates open at 3 p.m., and the first 15,000 fans will receive a limited-edition MLB All-Star Game collectible guitar pick.
Before the first pitch of the softball game, Welshly Arms will take the stage for a two-song set. Their 2017 single “Legendary” has earned platinum status in Germany and Switzerland and cracked over 90 million Spotify streams.
The second game of Sunday’s doubleheader, the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, will have Hall of Famer and five-time All-Star Jim Thome managing a team of Minor League prospects against four-time All-Star Dennis Martinez.
Following the All-Star Futures game, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will perform a special set including the classic “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll.”
To cap off the day, fans will get to experience the “All-Star Rock N’ Blast,” a special adaptation of the Indians’ award-winning annual fireworks and multimedia show. It features nearly 20 minutes of music, fireworks and multimedia extending around the entire ballpark.
