CLEVELAND — All-Star Week is heading to Cleveland and MLB announced that All-Stars will be arriving in style and strolling down the red carpet in a special parade before the game.
More than 70 MLB All-Stars will parade through the streets of downtown Cleveland on Tuesday, July 9 as part of the 15th annual MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show, just a few hours before making their way to the 2019 MLB All-Star Game.
Indians legends Jim Thome and Sandy Alomar Jr. were named Grand Marshals of the parade, making it that much more special for Cleveland.
Thome, the five-time All-Star and Hall of Famer, and Alomar, the six-time All-Star and hero of the 1997 All-Star Game, will lead the parade in a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette.
The other All-Stars will ride through the parade in Chevy Silverados.
The parade is free to the public and begins downtown at 12:30 p.m., starting on Lakeside Avenue and West Mall Drive, heading through PLAY BALL PARK and wrapping up at Progressive Field.
Mascots from multiple MLB teams will be interacting with fans along the route and giving away special All-Star keepsakes to those in attendance.
The parade will be televised later in the day on MLB Network and MLB.com at 3 p.m.
