In honor of Halloween, News 5 had the chance to go behind the scenes of the Carnival of Horrors Haunted House at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls. Take a look at the makeup process in the video above.
We also had the opportunity to sit down and ask the man behind it all, Ryan Pluta, five things about the haunted attraction that boasts walk through houses and one haunted forest.
How long have you been doing Carnival of Horrors?
I've actually been doing haunted houses for 26 years; I started my first haunted house in 1990. I re-branded the Carnival of Horrors in 1997.
Which is your favorite haunted house out of all four experiences?
I like the Fun House the best because it's just the absolute scariest. However, I am a little bit partial to the Freakshow in 3D Terrorvision because the 3D is just so amazing to look at. Every time when we first finish building it we just go in there with 3D glasses and every year even though I know what it looks like I'm still absolutely amazed by the effect.
So with the recent clown sightings and concern going on, how has attendance been? Has it changed any?
It's been great, I mean people are scared of clowns now with all of those creepy clown people walking around and everything I think it just makes people even that much more scared, which is great.
What's your favorite part of running Carnival of Horrors?
I love watching people get scared, I mean that's why I do this. Just watching the terror and hearing the screams, it just goes on all night long - I love it.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Carnival of Horrors is open through October 30th - it's at Blossom Music Center. We've got four different haunted house experiences for one price, everybody has a blast when they come out here. It's an all ages show, so I'd tell you to come on out and get scared.
