MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — For years, Home Instead Care in Medina has been delivering hot meals to seniors who are unable to leave their homes. This year, dozens of volunteers cooked more than 500 meals at the small kitchen at St. Francis Xavier Church in Medina.
On Christmas Eve, volunteers will deliver meals on 50 different routes throughout Medina County to people who otherwise may not have received a meal or any company.
Volunteers cooked up a feast from 100 pounds of potatoes, dozens of turkeys and hams and thousands of cookies.
"Our phones will ring all day today with seniors saying thank you so much for a simple ham or turkey meal and someone who was kind enough to get up early to make it," said Roberta Woodard, manager for business development at Home Instead Care.
Woodard said more people have signed up to receive meals than other years. Volunteers started delivering meals at around 10 a.m. on Christmas Eve, hitting nearly every corner of Medina County.
