CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Investigative Unit has cited two local bars for violating state health orders aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The first location, Around the Corner in Lakewood, was cited for improper conduct—disorderly activity. Authorities said they “observed egregious violations throughout the patio and in a separate building (all part of the liquor permit premises),” when they arrived.

Additionally, “patrons were closely congregated throughout those areas with a lack of social distancing and physical barriers between groups of patrons,” the OIU said.

According to authorities, the establishment had signage and partitions to discourage close contact, but “no social distancing of any type was being enforced.”

The second establishment, Sky Mediterranean in Parma Heights, was also cited for improper conduct—disorderly activity.

Authorities say they observed dozens of patrons eating, drinking and smoking hookah and no social distancing. This is the third time since Nov. 13, Sky Mediterranean has been cited for disorderly activity, after-hours consumption or after-hours sales.
