CLEVELAND — After the Cleveland Department of Public Health said Monday it was unable to release coronavirus numbers due to “unprecedented surge,” newly released numbers from the city on Tuesday showed there were 509 confirmed COVID-19 cases in a two-day period.

From Nov 16 and Nov. 17, the health department reported 509 cases—the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a two-day period.

On Nov. 16, there were 195 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the city, followed by 314 confirmed cases reported on Nov. 17.

CDPH is working to identify their close contacts who would require testing or monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms.

The confirmed cases for Sunday, Nov. 15 are still being processed and will be reported at a later date, the city said.

The Ohio Department of Health reported 7,079 new COVID-19 cases in the state Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 312,443.
