COLUMBUS — With Memorial Day coming up, many Ohioans are wondering when summer activities such as community pools and camps will reopen for public use. On Thursday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is expected to give details during his daily briefing with Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted.

On Tuesday, DeWine said he isn't ready to lift travel restrictions just yet, but he hopes to start off by resuming summer activities as part of his layered approach to reopening the state.

The briefing will be held at 2 p.m. Watch it live in the media player below.

Husted said the state is still working on plans and protocols to allow the reopening of those business and events that remain shuttered and canceled, including casinos, gyms, fitness centers, fairs and other entertainment sites.

“We are working as quickly as we can on fairs, outdoor recreation, camping and sports and the like…because we know that these are time-sensitive issues with Ohioans trying to make plans for their summer, and make plans with their children as well,” Husted said.

So far, DeWine has announced reopening plans for restaurants, hair salons, piercing businesses and tattoo parlors.
