COLUMBUS, Ohio — Three Northeast Ohio bars have been cited by the Ohio Investigative Unit for violating state health orders regarding COVID-19.
Game On Lakewood in Lakewood was issued a citation for improper conduct-disorderly activity. Authorities said that there were “no social distancing measures or physical barriers” in place when agents went to the establishment. The OIU also stated that the crowd was so large, agents had a hard time moving through the bar without coming into direct contact with patrons.
Another bar, Tap House in Lakewood, was issued a citation for after-hours consumption. Authorities said that they found more than 30 people inside the establishment drinking alcohol past the time allowed.
Additionally, Jay’s Bar and Grill in Massillon was issued a citation for after-hours consumption, according to the OIU.
Businesses that are cited by OIU agents will have their cases go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for potential fines and/or penalties.
“We continue to work with our law enforcement partners and local health departments following up on complaints to ensure liquor-permitted establishments maintain compliance, so everyone can enjoy a healthy experience,” said OIU Enforcement Commander Eric Wolf. “When egregious violations are observed, enforcement action is taken. We all need to continue to work together by following the precautions put in place to make these establishments safe and compliant with the directives.”
