MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio — Mayfield City Schools announced on Wednesday that the football season for freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams has been suspended after two football players tested positive for COVID-19.
School officials said the decision to suspend the season until further notice was made based on a recommendation from the Cuyahoga County Board of Health after diagnostic nasal testing showed positive results for the virus in the two players. Both play and practice have been suspended.
Mayfield’s Athletic Director Keith Leffler will notify the players and their families as more information becomes available, school officials said.
