COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 681 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, a dip from the 885 newly reported cases on Friday.
Saturday’s new cases brings the state total to 23,697 cases. There have now been 4,300 people hospitalized due to the novel coronavirus and 1,200 people placed in ICU. That’s an increase of 82 hospitalizations and 12 ICU admissions since Friday.
In total, 1,331 people have died from COVID-19 as of Saturday afternoon. That’s 25 additional deaths from what ODH reported on Friday.
The age range of people who have contracted the virus is from less than 1 year old to 106 years old, with a median age of 51. Males continue to outpace females with when it comes to cases. Right now, males make up 54% of the total cases, compared to 45% of female cases.
Cuyahoga County reported 67 new cases on Saturday, compared to the 97 new cases that were reported on Friday.
Health officials said they expect the number of confirmed cases to continue to rise as more testing becomes available.
