TALLMADGE, Ohio — The Summit County Health Department announced plans to move its COVID-19 mass vaccination site from Chapel Hill Mall in Akron to the Summit County Fairgrounds in Tallmadge on Wednesday.

Summit County Public Health Commissioner Donna Skoda said they decided to move the site for a number of reasons, but mainly because the company planning to buy the mall is closing on the sale and they are planning to refurbish the mall.

No definitive opening date has been set, but Skoda hopes to be open by early April.

The health department has not ruled out using Chapel Hill Mall as a pop-up, early access, vaccination site, but said it wouldn’t be used for anything long term.
