Writing letters of hope and encouragement to young women all across the world is the mission of Kent State's latest endeavor, “The Letter Project.”
It’s a nationwide organization with a chapter recently starting at Kent State University.
“I really felt like this was really something that was missing at Kent.,” said Kent State chapter president Emily Camarato. “This is just a simple thing that has such a powerful impact and I think that’s the really the beauty of it.”
The group receives requests through Letter Project. Those requests are then forwarded to chapters across the country and from there the writing begins.
“It’s just so important for girls to know that they matter and that they’re enough, loved and they need to be heard," said Kent State chapter vice-president Courtney Longworth.
Since the “Letter Project” launched in October of last year, more than 5,000 letters have been sent to girls on five continents and in nine countries.
