Elyria police arrested two 14-year-old juveniles after they allegedly threatened people at an apartment complex while carrying three realistic looking BB guns.
Police said excellent detailed information about the suspects from a security guard at the Midview Crossing Apartments played a huge role in the arrests.
Elyria Police Lt. William Pelco told newsnet5.com police were able to track down the suspects on Fuller Road and found one BB gun in the waste band of one of the juveniles. The other two BB guns were discovered in a backpack.
"We're lucky that these juveniles somewhat complied, they didn't pull the guns out or anything when we pulled them over," said Pelco. "I mean we could easily be talking about having a couple suspects possibly shot and killed. But the officers were able to use their skills and their knowledge, and stop these individuals and do it safely. Everybody got to go home."
The juveniles arrested were charged with disorderly conduct and returned to their parents without incident.
It's not clear if the parents will face any consequences in this case.
