AKRON, Ohio — A 12-year-old boy is recovering after being shot while walking on Browns Street in Akron early Wednesday morning, according to the Akron Police Department.
The boy told police that around 12 a.m. he was walking on Brown Street near Cross Street when a black car pulled up to him.
The boy started to run and heard gunshots. He then felt pain in his ankle and realized he had been shot, police said.
Police said the boy’s mother transported him to Akron Children’s Hospital for treatment.
The gunshot wound is non-life threatening, according to police.
