AKRON, Ohio — Police conducting a traffic stop in Akron on Thursday arrested a 16-year-old boy after they found a loaded handgun in the vehicle.
He's been charged with carrying concealed weapons and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, authorities said.
Officers pulled the car over for an equipment violation around 4:40 p.m. near Copley Road and Mercer Avenue.
The boy was a passenger in the car. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center, authorities said. The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was cited for driving under suspension and sent on her way.
