AKRON, Ohio — Akron Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man.
The shooting happened Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Copley Road.
Derrick Patterson was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where he later died.
Police said that based on preliminary information, investigators believe Patterson was involved in an altercation with at least two other people before the fatal shooting.
Detectives also believe Patterson was struck by a red or maroon vehicle before the shooting.
This was the 26th homicide of the year in Akron.
