3rd suspect arrested in connection with fire, double homicide at Akron home; 2 suspects still wanted

AKRON, Ohio — A suspect wanted in connection with a house fire where two people were found shot to death inside a home on Brown Street in Akron was arrested in Canton Tuesday by members of the Northern Ohio Fugitive Task Force.

Robert Boyer, 31, was wanted on a warrant for aggravated arson in connection to man and a woman found shot inside a burning home on July 28.

The victims were identified as Justin Walker, 34, of Akron, and Melinda Pointer, 47, of Akron. Both were shot in the head and torso, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner.

Four other suspects allegedly connected to the crime have already been charged:

  • Steven Hayes, 20, of Akron has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder. He is currently in custody at the Summit County Jail.
  • Kianna Buckley, 42, of Akron, is charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated murder. Buckley is in custody.
  • Dylan Brown, 20, of Akron, is charged with complicity to commit aggravated murder and conspiracy to commit aggravated murder.
  • Gia Hernandez, 37, of Akron, has warrants for tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.

Both Brown and Hernandez are currently wanted by authorities, as of Wednesday, Aug. 26.
