5th suspect identified in connection with house fire, double homicide in Akron

AKRON, Ohio — A fifth suspect has been identified in connection with the deaths of a man and woman who were found in a burning home in Akron last month.

According to the Akron Police Department, Robert Boyer, 31, allegedly set fire to a home in the 1000 block of Brown Street. Boyer is facing an aggravated arson charge.

Boyer is described as Black male, about 5 feet, 7 inches with black hair and brown eyes.

The victims were discovered inside the burning home after firefighters arrived and knocked down the fire.

The victims were later identified as Justin Walker, 34, and Melinda Pointer, 47. According to authorities, both individuals had been shot prior to the fire being started.

Four other suspects allegedly connected to the crime have already been arrested.
