LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP — An 85-year-old woman died Friday morning following a fatal crash in Lawrence Township.
Shirley R. Smail, of North Lawrence, died at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 10:38 a.m. at the intersection of Orrville Street and State Route 93.
Authorities say the crash occurred when Smail, who was driving a 2004 Mercury Sable, pulled out in front of a 2007 Ford F-150 at a stop sign. The impact caused the two vehicles to veer off the road and into a nearby ditch.
The other driver, a 52-year-old man from Uniontown, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown, but authorities said his injuries were non-life-threatening.
The crash is still under investigation.
