Akron homeowner says 2 men forced their way into her home, brandished a handgun and took money

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating after two unknown men forced their way inside a home in Akron's North Hill neighborhood and brandished a handgun during an aggravated burglary on New Year’s Eve, according to a police report.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Springdale Street at around 2:52 p.m. for a reported burglary.

A 24-year-old woman told officers that two men knocked on her door and asked if her husband was home.

When she told them no and started to shut the door, the two men forced their way into her home.

One of the men brandished a handgun, demanding property and threatening everyone in the house, the report stated.

The two men took some money and a gaming system before fleeing on foot.

The man who had the handgun was described as between the age of 20 to 24 years old. He was wearing a black Nike hoodie and jeans. He was approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 175-185 pounds.

The second man was also between the age of 20-24 years old, weighing 155 to 165 pounds. He was wearing a tan hoodie and sweatpants.
