AKRON, Ohio — A man wanted in connection with a 2018 Akron homicide was caught this week after being pulled over by police in West Virginia.
According to the Akron Police Department, Duane Griffin Jr., was pulled over in Jackson County, West Virginia, and gave officers a fake name. He was taken into custody on drug charges, and his real identity was revealed when he was fingerprinted.
Griffin was wanted for the death of 19-year-old Jordan Hopson, who was killed on Dec. 16, 2018.
Hopson was found dead in his car near Washburn Street and Longview Avenue in Akron. He had been shot in the head, authorities said.
Griffin has been on the run since September 2019 when he was indicted by a Summit County grand jury, according to police.
