AKRON, Ohio — An Akron organization aimed at improving education throughout the city is holding a beer tasting fundraiser to help support the Kenmore-Garfield Stark State Scholarship Fund, helping students pay for their books and any additional tuition costs not covered by other scholarships or financial aid.
Akron Promise is hosting the Virtual Beer Tasting Fundraiser on June 26.
Four Akron brewers will join the event to talk about their beer and the process of brewing. Akronym Brewing, Eighty-Three Brewery, Lock 15 Brewing Company and Missing Falls Brewery will participate in the fundraiser.
Those who make a donation of $50 or more will receive a beer flight to taste during the event.
“For many Akron students, a major barrier to post-secondary education is money. For the third year in a row, Akron Promise will remove that barrier for up to ten Kenmore-Garfield High School students,” said Tom Ghinder, Founder of Akron Promise, Inc. “We believe all students deserve a chance at a post-secondary certificate or degree, leading to a satisfying career and quality of life. In addition, Akron Promise is trying to shape the culture of education in Akron to help ensure that all students have access to appropriate supports, resources and opportunities.”
