58-year-old man found bludgeoned to death inside Akron apartment, police say

AKRON, Ohio — A 51-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after a man was found bludgeoned to death at an Akron apartment on Sunday, according to police.

On Sunday at around 6:15 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of McTaggart Drive.

Officers located a 58-year-old man who was unresponsive with apparent injuries, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The man was later pronounced dead at the scene at around 7:04 a.m., according to the medical examiner.

James Miller, 51, was arrested at the scene after detectives learned Miller and the victim were involved in a fight.

During the fight, Miller bludgeoned the victim to death, according to police. Miller was charged with murder and booked into the Summit County Jail.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until positive identification and next-of-kin has been notified.
