AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are searching for a maroon-colored vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash with a motorcycle in Akron on Easter Sunday.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. Sunday, a motorcycle with two passengers was traveling westbound on East Tallmadge Avenue at a high rate of speed when it struck a maroon-colored vehicle believed to have pulled out of the parking lot of Save A Lot, located in the 500 block of East Tallmadge Avenue.

Police said the motorcycle struck the right-side bumper of the vehicle, causing the 26-year-old female passenger to be ejected off the bike.

She was seriously injured and transported to Summa Akron City Hospital, police said.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 21-year-old man, struck a utility pole and was killed on impact.

Police said the maroon-colored vehicle left the scene after the crash.

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have been in the area of East Tallmadge Avenue at the time of the crash is asked to call police at 330-375-2490.
