AKRON, Ohio — A 17-year-old in Akron is facing charges after police arrested him while he was in possession of a stolen handgun—that he was found wearing in a fanny pack around his neck.
According to Akron police, the 17-year-old was a passenger in car that was pulled over for an equipment violation.
The traffic stop happened around 4 p.m. near Treeside and Cromwell drives.
Police said that when officers approached the car, it reeked of marijuana.
The 22-year-old driver and the 17-year-old were wearing fanny packs around their necks that each held a loaded handgun, police said. The gun the teen had was stolen.
The teen was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property, according to police.
