A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man identified as the suspect in a Canton homicide that happened on Thanksgiving day.
The warrant was signed for Arsenio C. Smith, 30, on murder, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property charges, according to Canton police.
On Thursday, authorities went to the 1700 block of Sandwith Avenue SW for a shooting. When police arrived, they found the victim, James Howard, 42, lying in a driveway with two gunshot wounds, authorities said.
Howard was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said they believe that prior to the shooting Howard got into a fight inside the home he was found in the driveway of.
Canton police said the case will be presented to a grand jury.
In addition to the warrant for Smith, authorities said another warrant was signed for Ashley N. Singleton, 33, on obstructing justice and receiving stolen property charges. Police didn't say how Singleton was connected to the homicide case.
Anyone who knows either of the suspects' whereabouts is asked to call police at 330-649-5800.
