Akron police are investigating two separate homicides that occurred early Saturday morning and do not appear to be related.
The first homicide happened just after 3:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Schiller Avenue, according to a news release from Akron police. The victim, a 46-year-old man, was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. He was identified Monday by the Summit County Coroner's Office as Bonn Rassavong.
Police said it appears the victim was walking to his car, which was parked on the street, when he was approached by two males. They demanded his property and shot him in the head, police said. The suspects then fled south on foot.
The second homicide occurred sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday morning in a parking lot in the 300 block of South Arlington Street, police said. A 58-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his head. He was identified as Robert Lee McCall by the Summit County Coroner's Office.
There are no suspects and there is no other information available at this time, police said.
