CANTON, Ohio — Authorities are investigating a crash that happened at about 10:30 p.m. Monday night in Canton, according to a news release from the Canton Police Department.

The crash happened on McKinley Avenue Northwest and the Cleveland Avenue Northwest split.

A 30-year-old man was traveling southbound on Cleveland Avenue NW in a gray, 2017 Toyota Corolla when he allegedly failed to turn at the split in the roadway, causing him to travel up the yard of the Walgreen's Pharmacy, police said.

The driver crashed into the Walgreens sign. It took authorities roughly 40 minutes to cut out the driver from the vehicle.

The Canton Fire Department transported the man to Mercy Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Canton Metro Crash Team are investigating the crash. Alcohol is not considered a factor at this time, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Canton Police Traffic Bureau Sgt Swank at 330-438-4486.
