FBI targeting drugs, gangs in Stark County sweep

CANTON, Ohio — FBI agents and officers from several other agencies targeted gangs and drugs during a sweep that started Thursday morning in Stark County, according to FBI spokesperson Vicki Anderson.

News 5 has learned that search warrants were executed at multiple locations in Canton, Massillon, Louisville and Jackson Township.

Anderson confirmed the early morning law enforcement activity was part of a Canton and FBI Safe Streets Task Force operation.

In addition to various FBI and Canton police units, Stark County Metro Narcotics, Canton Regional SWAT, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Alliance Police SWAT also took part in the operation.

Five people from Canton, Massillon and Louisville were arrested on drugs and/or weapons charges and will appear in Canton Municipal Court.

Charges include trafficking in heroin, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in marijuana and weapons under disability.
