CANTON, Ohio — A fire destroyed an ammunition factory in Canton late Thursday night, according to News 5 media partner at The Canton Repository.
Firefighters responded at around 11:47 p.m. to the blaze at 50 BMG Supply, 1311 Gross Avenue Northeast.
Sounds of ammunition and fire shooting from the building can be heard from viewer video obtained by News 5’s overnight news tracker.
The aftermath of the fire showed the roof completely burned off.
The blaze spread to a house on the north side, stretching into the attic, causing heavy smoke damage. Two people inside the home were evacuated without injuries, according to the Canton Repository.
According to the company’s website, 50bmgsupply.com, it’s a federally licensed manufacturer of ammunition specializing in .50-caliber ammo.
It’s unknown at this time what caused the fire, but it remains under investigation.
