AKRON, Ohio — Following Summit County’s designation as a Level 3 Public Emergency due to COVID-19 spread and cases, the Akron Zoo is officially requiring masks for guests.
All guests ages 11 and up will be required to wear a mask when entering the zoo and whenever social distancing cannot be maintained, the zoo announced Friday.
Those eating and drinking at the zoo can take their mask off to do so while social distancing from people not from their household, according to the zoo.
Akron Zoo’s mask mandate went into effect on Saturday.
Summit County was deemed Level 3 on Wednesday during a weekly review of the county database and color-coded Public Health Advisory System implemented by state officials. With the heightened designation, moving up from Level 2, Summit County residents are now required to wear a mask of face-covering when out in public.
