AKRON, Ohio — Four Northeast Ohio bars have been cited by the Ohio Investigative Unit for violating Gov. Mike DeWine's health orders.

Mickey's In The Valley in Akron was cited after agents observed several patrons seated at the bar and drinking alcohol after 11 p.m. on August 20.

Blossom Lounge in Cleveland was cited for no social distancing and no masks on August 20 after refusing to let agents inside for 15 minutes.

The club was also cited for disorderly activities and unsanitary conditions.

The Club House in Mansfield was cited on August 21 after 50 people were seen standing in groups, drinking alcohol. Agents were able to buy alcohol after 10:30 p.m. and said the employees were not wearing facial coverings.

Highland Tavern in Akron was cited after 30 to 40 people were standing, drinking alcohol with no social distancing on August 22. Officials said agents were able to buy an alcoholic drink at 12:40 a.m. from employees who weren't wearing facial coverings. This is the tavern's third offense.

Across the state, six other establishments were cited.

The cases will go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for potential penalties, including fines and/or the suspension or revocation of liquor permits.

“We continue to work with our law enforcement partners and local health departments following up on complaints to ensure liquor-permitted establishments maintain compliance, so everyone can enjoy a healthy experience,” said OIU Enforcement Commander Eric Wolf. “When egregious violations are observed, enforcement action is taken. We all need to continue to work together by following the precautions put in place to make these establishments safe and compliant with the directives.”
