CANTON, Ohio — After 76 years at its current location, a popular restaurant in Canton is on the move.
John’s Bar & Grille has been located on Cleveland Avenue for decades but will move to Oakwood Square Plaza in Plain Township this fall.
John Varavvas, owner and president of John’s Bar & Grille, said that the decision to move was months in the making and amid the pandemic they realized they needed a change.
"This was a consideration prior to COVID, but then COVID really showed us that there was really a tremendous need, and we think that need will continue even after COVID and things will get more back to normal," Varavvas said.
John’s Bar & Grille’s lease at the Cleveland Avenue location runs out by the end of August. Varavvas signed the new lease on Wednesday.
Varavvas said the new location will have more of an open-air environment for customers to relax and eat, and will feature a new patio to make that idea a reality.
The move is expected to be completed by late summer or early fall of this year.
