AKRON, Ohio — The LeBron James Family Foundation and the 2K Foundation unveiled the renovated gymnasium at the Balch Street Community Center in Akron on Friday afternoon.
As a gift to the community, the foundations gave the gym new basketball hoops, wall padding and a scoreboard.
Other improvements include fresh paint on all of the walls, refinished floors and brand new LED lighting.
The renovation was completed over six weeks.
According to LJFF, the remodel stems from LeBron recognizing the need to have a space for all of his I PROMISE students to be able to play basketball and other recreational activities that were important to him while growing up.
The Balch Street Community Center is less than a mile away from the I PROMISE School.
