Man charged after allegedly shooting victim in the middle of the street Wednesday morning

A man was arrested and charged in Akron after he approached another man and shot him in the street Wednesday morning.

According to police, Marquise Harris, 21, approached the 43-year-old victim at the intersection of Victory Street and West Long Street at 7:30 a.m., pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the abdomen.

Harris fled the scene, and the victim was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, authorities said.

Police said they found Harris at his residence in the 400 block of Beechwood Avenue. He was taken into custody by the SWAT team. Authorities said they recovered a handgun.

Harris was charged with felonious assault and booked into the Summit County Jail.
