AKRON, Ohio — Akron police detectives are searching for a man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old in Akron on Dec. 18.

According to Akron Municipal Court records, Thomas Unrue, 26, is wanted for murder and felonious assault. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Akron police say that Unrue has been linked to the shooting death of John Kovach at a business in Akron last week in the 1000 block of Brown Street. After being shot, Kovach was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

The shooter fled the scene prior to police arriving, police said.

Unrue was last seen driving a Dodge Journey with a temporary tag. He should be considered armed and dangerous, Akron police said.
