Man's car shot up while driving on Interstate 77 in Akron Monday afternoon

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Monday on Interstate 77.

According to police, the shooting happened around 12:20 p.m. on I-77 near East Wilbeth Road.

Authorities say they received calls about a car being shot at on the highway. The driver later reported the incident to Summa police when they pulled him over near North Forge and Arch streets.

Two bullet holes were found in the man’s car. He wasn’t injured in the shooting, authorities said. The driver told police that someone in what appeared to be a silver Pontiac opened fire at him on the highway.

No additional details have been released.
