AKRON, Ohio — Akron police arrested a 41-year-old mother and her 16-year-old son Tuesday after the woman threw an unknown substance on someone’s car during an argument at a gas station and the teen brandished a handgun.
According to Akron police, the incident happened Tuesday morning at a gas station in the 900 block of Brown Street.
Authorities state that a 28-year-old man and another woman were at the gas station when the mother pulled up and started arguing with them.
Minutes later, the woman’s son arrived and pulled out a gun, but the man managed to wrestle it away from the teen. The mother than threw an unknown substance on the man’s car, according to police.
When police arrived, the mother and her son were already gone. Officers tracked the family down and located them at a home in the 1100 block of Sherman Street. They were taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
The teen admitted to having a gun at the scene but denied pointing it at the man and woman, according to police.
The mother was charged with violating a protection order and criminal damaging. Her son was charged with aggravated menacing.
No injuries were reported. The matter remains under investigation.
