Stow police have released the name of the officer involved in the deadly shooting of man shot in a parking lot behind Haven of Rest Ministries last week.
William Porubsky, 30, was shot by Stow police officer Robert S. Molody around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday in a parking lot behind Haven of Rest Ministries on Market Street.

According to the Stow Police Department, Stow officers responded around 10:46 p.m. to the area of Meadowbrook Boulevard after a man allegedly approached a home, knocked on the door, asked for cigarettes and then ran off.
Porubsky was found on an adjacent street and police determined they would transport him to Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron.

When the officer arrived with Porubsky at the shelter, police say he became aggressive.
Before backup arrived, the officer reported that shots had been fired and he was injured.
The officer was also injured.
The man was pronounced dead at an Akron hospital. An autopsy showed Porubsky died from gunshot wounds to the torso
The officer was treated for his injuries and released.
The incident will be investigated by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
