Police find drugs, $9,000 cash on man who allegedly threatened Akron resident

AKRON, Ohio — A 28-year-old man was charged Tuesday in Akron after police responded to a home in the city’s Northwest Side for man allegedly threatening a resident.

The suspect, Damone Gibbs, is charged with possession of drugs, drug trafficking and menacing.

According to police, officers responded to a home in the 900 block of Stadelman Avenue around 4 p.m. after Gibbs allegedly threatened a resident with a gun.

Upon arrival, police said they found Gibbs across the street from where the incident occurred. When officers approached Gibbs, he dropped an item and tried to walk away. Police detained him, and during a search of his person they found seven grams of marijuana and $9,000 in cash.

The item police said Gibbs dropped was also recovered and was determined to be a small container of fentanyl, according to authorities. Police didn't say if they recovered a gun.

Gibbs was arrested, issued a court summons and released.
