Police investigating string of cigarette bandit burglaries at Akron Family Dollar stores

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating a string of burglaries at Family Dollar stores across the city.

The first burglary occurred early Sunday morning around 1 a.m. Police received an alarm call from a Family Dollar located in the 1400 block of South Arlington Street and found the front door glass shattered when they arrived. Police said an unknown person threw a rock through the door and took an “undetermined amount” of cigarettes.

The second burglary occurred around 30 minutes later at a Family Dollar located in the 500 block of East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue. Police received an alarm call and found broken glass at the front of the building when they arrived. Again, an “undetermined amount” of cigarettes were stolen from the store, police said.

Early Tuesday morning a third burglary took place at a Family Dollar in the 1500 block of South Hawkins, around 2:45 a.m. When police arrived they again found the front door glass shattered and an “undetermined amount” of cigarettes stolen from the store.

Police have not identified a suspect or suspects in any of the incidents.
