Police seek information in Akron home invasion that left a 73-year-old man injured

AKRON, Ohio — Police are seeking the public’s help in gathering information on a home invasion that occurred in Akron Saturday morning.

Akron police were called to the 100 block of East Mpledale Avenue around 11 a.m. Upon their arrival, officers found a 73-year-old man who had been injured, police said.

The man told police that he opened the door and two individuals rushed inside, assaulted him and ransacked his home. He said one individual was armed with a gun and took his debit cards and vehicle but later returned them, according to police.

The two individuals are believed to be a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old.

The man was taken to Akron Summa Hospital for medical treatment.

Police have not made any arrests at this time and the investigation is pending, according to police.
